A skate park for the Unity health centre yard: help our neighbors in Durham
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $1,700 for materials.
🇺🇸 Durham, North Carolina, United States2,129 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,700.
It will serve about 425 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $550
• Permits and inspections: $165
• Materials: $985

Sending good thoughts. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Thinking of Durham.
Wishing you peace, Marta. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 6 years in construction I know how hard it is to ask for anything. God bless.
Keep going. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in Pattaya this morning. Take care.
Praying for you, Marta. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't give up. Love from Miami.
you're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Nashik.
