A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Warri

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $190, and the remaining cost is $400. It will serve about 117 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $400 goes: • Materials: $250 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $75 Glad we found this place.
