A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Üsküdar
Volunteers in Üsküdar are raising $750 for a skate park at the Lotus community hall.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $155, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 254 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $750 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $120
• Materials: $490
• Tools hire and delivery: $140
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
