A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Tijuana

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 483 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $250 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $95 • Tools hire and delivery: $100 • Permits and inspections: $55 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Yolanda
