A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Tema
A community-led a skate park at the Liberty vacant lot that will serve 200 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $150, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 200 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Materials: $170
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. tools hire and delivery comes first ($90) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
