A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Surakarta
Volunteers in Surakarta are raising $450 for a skate park at the Lotus vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 592 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $330
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $35
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Updates from Putri
Quick update: $230 raised so far (51%). we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($168 in total) I made the first payment toward materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Update from Surakarta: I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Kobe donated after I showed her your page
Wishing you peace, Putri. Your post was clear and honest. Put this on a community board in Auckland this morning. Greetings from Auckland.
