A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in São Paulo
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $300 for materials.
🇧🇷 Brazil1,352 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $180, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 142 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $105
• Tools hire and delivery: $150
• Permits and inspections: $45
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Good news. Because of your gifts ($238 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
