A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Santa Fe

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $700. It will serve about 470 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $700 goes: • Materials: $440 • Permits and inspections: $65 • Safety equipment and signage: $85 • Tools hire and delivery: $110 I hope life is good to you. - Óscar
