A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in San Jose
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $850 for materials.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 481 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $850 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $400
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Permits and inspections: $180
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
