A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Sacramento
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $1,700 for materials.
🇺🇸 Sacramento, California, United States1,382 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $860, and the remaining cost is $1,700.
It will serve about 432 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $280
• Safety equipment and signage: $380
• Materials: $1,040
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
