A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Nashik
A community-led a skate park at Unity Park that will serve 401 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world884 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $85, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 401 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $350
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
Thank you so much.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mythili.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($350) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
Best of luck. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Greetings from Recife.

Sending strength. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Nashik.
Hope it all works out, Mythili. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
