A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Makassar

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $150. It will serve about 438 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $150 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Permits and inspections: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $70 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
