A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Istanbul

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 405 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $500 goes: • Materials: $290 • Tools hire and delivery: $135 • Safety equipment and signage: $75 I hope life is good to you.
