A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Frankfurt
A community-led a skate park at the old Sycamore bus depot that will serve 212 neighbors.
🇩🇪 Frankfurt, Hesse, GermanyPosted Oct 1, 20261,320 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 212 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Materials: $1,800
• Permits and inspections: $185
• Safety equipment and signage: $360
• Tools hire and delivery: $455
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
