A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Contagem
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $550 for materials.
🇧🇷 Contagem, Minas Gerais, Brazil707 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 119 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $260
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $140
• Tools hire and delivery: $115
Glad we found this place.

best of luck, Bruno. More neighborhoods should do this. My neighbor in Zanzibar City donated after I showed her your page. Love from Zanzibar City
