A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Brisbane
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $1,600 for materials.
🇦🇺 Australia1,417 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,600.
It will serve about 116 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $330
• Materials: $990
• Safety equipment and signage: $280
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
