A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Addis Ababa
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a skate park - we need $450 for materials.
Anywhere in the world753 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 449 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $300
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.

you're not alone, Aster. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Caloocan donated after I showed her your page. Greetings from Caloocan.
Wishing you the best. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Greetings from Sacramento.
Rooting for you. Looking forward to the next update. After 20 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless
