Howrah
I served fourteen years in the army and was discharged in 2025 with a traumatic brain injury. I have been waiting seven months for support, and meanwhile I'm sleeping at my brother's place. I have a plan: a trained service dog and handler course. The quote I have comes to $600. I'm receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and am committed to my recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces. I'd be grateful for any help and will share updates on how I'm doing. Money will be paid to the training provider and the landlord directly. Where the $600 goes: • Housing deposit and first month: $155 • Transport to appointments: $75 • Training provider fees: $370 Thanks for reading all this.

    Exactly what I needed

This is what community support looks like. They didn't just offer generic advice; they provided personalized help tailored to my specific situation.

Hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 27 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
