I served six years in the marines and was discharged in 2024 with a traumatic brain injury. I have been waiting nine months for support, and meanwhile I'm sleeping at my brother's place.
I have a plan: a vocational welding course and tools. The quote I have comes to $4,400.
I'm receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and am committed to my recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces.
I'd be grateful for any help and will share updates on how I'm doing.
I'll post invoices, with personal details hidden.
Where the $4,400 goes:
• Training provider fees: $2,550
• Housing deposit and first month: $1,300
• Transport to appointments: $240
• Essential household items: $310
Thank you for reading my story.

Hang in there. Hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from San Diego.
sending strength. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Manukau.
Thanks for sharing this, Alofa. Shared it with a few friends. After 17 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Jakarta.
