A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Lapu-Lapu
Volunteers in Lapu-Lapu are raising $550 for a sensory garden for children with autism at Unity Park.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 335 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $400
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rey.
It's all in the list in the story. materials is the big one at $400, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Fair thing to want to know.
Hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Jakarta Barat
You're not alone. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Take care.
Keep going. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My husband and I read this together. God bless
