A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Buenos Aires
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $500 for materials.
🇦🇷 Buenos Aires, Argentina652 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 568 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $310
• Permits and inspections: $80
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
I hope life is good to you.
