A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Bangkok
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $200 for materials.
🇹🇭 Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand1,363 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 171 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $100
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Permits and inspections: $55
I hope life is good to you.

hope it all works out, Somchai. Hope you get there. We're a small family in Hamilton but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Hamilton.
praying for you, Somchai. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Sending good thoughts. Looking forward to the next update. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless.
is tools hire and delivery the biggest cost or is there more coming?
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. tools hire and delivery is the biggest at $100. Happy to explain more.
So sorry you're going through this. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. God bless.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Somchai?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about tools hire and delivery, advice is welcome too. It helps to be asked.
a colleague of mine might know someone for this in Bangkok. I'll ask around and let you know
Thanks for sharing this. Great idea, hope you get there.
Thinking of you. More neighborhoods should do this. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.
Stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. We're a small family in Odesa but we're thinking of you
Rooting for you, Somchai. Hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too!
