A repair café workshop for the Unity vacant lot: help our neighbors in Kisumu
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $700 for materials.
🇰🇪 Kenya847 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 264 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $100
• Materials: $530
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
