For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 464 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $330 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $20 • Tools hire and delivery: $40 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
