A repair café workshop for the Unity health centre yard: help our neighbors in Niterói
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Unity health centre yard that will serve 155 neighbors.
🇧🇷 Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, BrazilPosted Oct 1, 20262,789 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 155 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Materials: $850
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $110
I hope life is good to you.
