For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $570, and the remaining cost is $3,750. It will serve about 400 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,750 goes: • Materials: $2,500 • Permits and inspections: $330 • Safety equipment and signage: $380 • Tools hire and delivery: $540 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
