For three years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 399 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $600 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $60 • Materials: $440 • Safety equipment and signage: $100 Thanks for reading all this. - Chaminda

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($210 in total) the plan for materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. We're at 34% thanks to 4 of you. I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery. More news soon.

  3. 21% there. I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery. Thank you.
