A repair café workshop for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Phuket
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Jacaranda vacant lot that will serve 345 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 345 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Permits and inspections: $75
• Materials: $300

How is Orawan doing now?
hope it all works out, Orawan. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 6 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
it takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Casablanca so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Phuket
