A repair café workshop for the Jacaranda health centre yard: help our neighbors in Ekurhuleni
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $850 for materials.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,713 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 556 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $850 goes:
• Materials: $620
• Tools hire and delivery: $135
• Permits and inspections: $95
Glad we found this place.

Good luck, Lucky. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
