A repair café workshop for Sycamore Primary School: help our neighbors in San Cristóbal de las Casas
Volunteers in San Cristóbal de las Casas are raising $850 for a repair café workshop at Sycamore Primary School.
🇲🇽 Chiapas, Mexico1,017 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $270, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 258 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $850 goes:
• Materials: $690
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Sending love, Verónica. Shared this with my family. We're a small family in Cairo but we're thinking of you. All the best
Best of luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out
