A repair café workshop for Pioneer Park: help our neighbors in Jakarta
A community-led a repair café workshop at Pioneer Park that will serve 558 neighbors.
🇮🇩 Jakarta, DKI Jakarta, Indonesia1,895 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 558 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $380
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $65

Sending love, Umar. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Greetings from Lapu-Lapu.
Keep going, Umar. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't give up
So sorry you're going through this, Umar. Shared it with a few friends. Love from Patras.
Sending good thoughts, Umar. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 21 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Nagpur!
Keep going, Umar. Great idea, hope you get there
