A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Pretoria

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 156 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $250 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $105 • Tools hire and delivery: $70 • Permits and inspections: $75 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Palesa
