Nnewi
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 523 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $200 goes: • Materials: $155 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 • Permits and inspections: $15 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Sade

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Sade

Sure. The biggest one is materials, $155. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.

  • Wishing you peace, Sade. More neighborhoods should do this. I'm in farming myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.

    • Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Nnewi.

      • Wishing you peace. Looking forward to the next update. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.

        • Thinking of you and your family. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best

          • Stay strong, Sade. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too

            • Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care

              • So sorry you're going through this, Sade. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Take care.

I hope things turn around soon. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Nnewi.
