For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 173 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $500 goes: • Materials: $360 • Permits and inspections: $55 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $40 Thank you so much.

    Made a real difference

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.
