A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Manchester
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $1,450 for materials.
🇬🇧 England, United Kingdom2,506 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,450.
It will serve about 486 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $430
• Permits and inspections: $195
• Materials: $825
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
