A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Lahore
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $350 for materials.
🇵🇰 Pakistan847 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $70, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 261 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $220
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
Thanks for reading all this.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Sana?
Thank you. If you're in Lahore I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for asking.
Good luck, Sana. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Lahore.
Praying for you. Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 12 people at work. Take care.
Sending love, Sana. Shared it with a few friends. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best.
Take care, Sana. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Rosario.
