A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Guadalupe
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $1,050 for materials.
Anywhere in the world2,035 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 280 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Materials: $850
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Los Angeles donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
Looking forward to the next update. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Guadalupe.
