A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Dortmund
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $1,850 for materials.
🇩🇪 Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany1,775 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $460, and the remaining cost is $1,850.
It will serve about 359 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $250
• Materials: $1,350
• Tools hire and delivery: $250
Glad we found this place.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Dortmund.
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about permits and inspections, advice is welcome too. Ask me anything else.
Sending good thoughts. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Greetings from Dayton.
Hang in there. Shared it with a few friends. Blessings.
