A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Dammam
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $2,250 for materials.
🇸🇦 Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia2,707 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,250.
It will serve about 200 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Materials: $1,550
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
Thank you so much.

Thinking of you and your family, Lina. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Dammam.
