A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Bristol
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $2,100 for materials.
🇬🇧 England, United Kingdom1,088 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,100.
It will serve about 150 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,100 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $105
• Safety equipment and signage: $350
• Tools hire and delivery: $245
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
