A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Allentown
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $3,100 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States1,195 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,100.
It will serve about 435 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Materials: $1,900
• Permits and inspections: $135
• Safety equipment and signage: $470
• Tools hire and delivery: $595
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Keep going, Jayden. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Jakarta Selatan donated after I showed her your page. Blessings.
Wishing you peace, Jayden. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you
