A ramp for Upul: volunteers and tools needed
Upul uses a wheelchair and cannot leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇱🇰 Western, Sri Lanka1,253 views
Upul has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Upul can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Upul's family will cook lunch for the team.
Thanks for being kind about this.

Hang in there. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Tokyo.
