A ramp for Tarık: volunteers and tools needed

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Bornova.

Tarık has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Tarık can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Tarık's family will cook lunch for the team. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Sending love. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Giza!

    • I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Bornova

      • Sending good thoughts, Hülya. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
