A ramp for Hüseyin: volunteers and tools needed

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Istanbul.

Hüseyin has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Hüseyin can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Hüseyin's family will cook lunch for the team. Thank you for reading my story.

Sending strength, Melek. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.

              • Hang in there. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I hope October is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Istanbul
