A ramp for Beatrice: volunteers and tools needed
Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Mukono.
🇺🇬 Mukono, Central Region, Uganda1,394 views
Beatrice has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Beatrice can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Beatrice's family will cook lunch for the team.
Glad we found this place.

Stay strong, Mutua. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours. All the best.
good luck, Mutua. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. All the best.
Hope the doctors have good news. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Mukono.
Praying for you, Mutua. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from New Delhi.
Looking forward to the next update. After 16 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
Sending love, Mutua. Shared this with my family. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best
