A ramp for Abena: volunteers and tools needed
Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Cape Coast.
🇬🇭 Central, Ghana589 views
Abena has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Abena can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Abena's family will cook lunch for the team.

You're not alone, Eric. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Wishing you peace, Eric. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't give up
Thinking of you, Eric. Hope the doctors have good news. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Love from Athens.
You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Cape Coast.
