A rainwater harvesting system for the old Lotus bus depot: help our neighbors in Berlin
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the old Lotus bus depot that will serve 208 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world1,409 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $4,200.
It will serve about 208 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,200 goes:
• Materials: $3,250
• Permits and inspections: $380
• Safety equipment and signage: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $370
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Stay strong, Walter. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Put this on a community board in San Fernando this morning. Love from San Fernando.
So sorry you're going through this. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. God bless.
