A rainwater harvesting system for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Heliopolis
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Jacaranda vacant lot that will serve 95 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $110, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 95 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $210
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
