A rainwater harvesting system for the Cedar community hall: help our neighbors in Patna
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Cedar community hall that will serve 218 neighbors.
🇮🇳 Patna, Bihar, India1,458 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 218 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $290
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $40
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

thanks for sharing this. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Patna.
it takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in New York donated after I showed her your page.
Hang in there, Haritha. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Patna
Sending love, Haritha. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 27 years in construction I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Nsukka
