A rainwater harvesting system for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Toronto
Volunteers in Toronto are raising $2,350 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Baobab community hall.
🇨🇦 Toronto, Ontario, Canada1,581 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,350.
It will serve about 364 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Materials: $1,750
• Permits and inspections: $350
• Tools hire and delivery: $250
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
Updates from Vivaan
Good news. Because of your gifts ($65 in total) the plan for materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Thinking of you and your family. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Toronto.
So sorry you're going through this, Vivaan. Shared it with a few friends. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. God bless.
Sending good thoughts, Vivaan. I hope things turn around soon. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Take care.
